Debut Novel
17-year-old Jessica Rose wants to be famous. She's a metalhead from Scarborough who hates everyone at her posh Toronto private school and escapes through her music. Jessica is hanging on as best she can until the school year ends, but failing another test puts her in bad graces with her demanding Egyptian father and Asian mother. Jessica has a chance encounter with a homeless Indigenous person named Lucifer, and they bond over discovering they can both hear the thoughts of trees. Jessica tells Lucifer that her father, Joseph, is the CEO of a toilet paper company, and he is preparing to cut down a forest to further enrich his family. Lucifer is outraged, and together they plot through social media to stop Jessica's dad from cutting down those trees. And when you're trying to be a famous musician, any attention is good attention, right?
